Advantages of specialized school are students’ profound knowledge of the subject and well-equipped classes. As for disadvantages, I think that while students pay attention to some subjects, they underestimate other subjects. And who knows what knowledge will be needed in the future. 3. I’d like to study at language school. I like languages and I want to learn more foreign languages.

Gymnasium is a place where we have our Sports lessons. There is various sports equipment there. We can run, jump, play volleyball, basketball or tennis there. Laboratory is a place where we do different experiments. We go there for our Physics and Chemistry lessons.

Computer room is a room where we have our IT lessons. We learn to use computers more efficiently. We learn to make presentations, to work with pictures and photos and to write programmes.

Library is a large room with thousands of books. Here we can find additional information for our lessons and read for pleasure.

Workshop is a place where we have our Labour Training lessons. We work with hammers and nails, saws and files. We carry on some manual work there.

75 (5) A: Come in. It is our Chemistry Lab. We do our experiments or make observations here. The laboratory is well-equipped. There are a lot of chemical substances in that closed cabinet. There are also some tables and diagrams on the walls. They help us to recollect the information.

B: And here is our Workshop. You can see all modem equipment here. We have our Labour Training lessons here. We are taught to use some tools and machines. We get useful skills for our future life.

C: And this is our Assembly Hall. It is decorated with ribbons and flowers. There is a yellow and blue flag on the wall. It can hold 200 people. We arrange performances on the stage of our Assembly Hall. We like to hold concerts dedicated to national and school holidays.

76 (6) More educational excursions should be arranged. — I agree with this statement. It suggests more interesting excursions which help us to understand school learning material better.

The school should invite a guest speaker. — I agree with this statement. I think the school should invite doctors, lawyers, famous sportsmen and singers to tell us about their profession and their road to success.

A school orchestra should be formed. — I don’t agree with this statement. I think that children would spend too much time training to play in the orchestra. They would have little time to study and to rest.

Uniform shouldn’t be compulsory at school. — I agree with this statement. I think everybody should wear what they want.

77 (7a) 1. І think that Computer room is best-equipped. We have the newest computers. And the best modem programmes are installed there. 2. The most interesting tradition in my school is the school-leavers concert at the end of the school year. The performance is always exciting and funny. There are a lot of songs, dances and a number of jokes about our school and our teachers. Nobody wants to miss it. 3. I don’t think educational television programmes are a good idea. Not everybody can leam through videos. But 3d-animated maps would be a good idea. Everyone would explore topics at their own pace.

1. A school day. (It is a day when all the teachers, pupils and their parents do something together. E.g. They can go to the cinema or have a picnic.)

In your letter you asked me about my favourite subjects. I like History and Geography most of all. They are very interesting and informative subjects. I prefer reading interesting information to doing sums. I can easily learn the material. It is so exciting to find useful additional information about the topics.

But some of the subjects are quite boring. I don’t like Physics. I think it is dull. It can be very difficult to understand. Sometimes I read my textbook on Physics until it is time to go to bed, but I understand nothing. It is awful!

Actually, I have to finish my writing. I’ve got a lot of homework to do.

77 (2) I hate wearing a uniform. And our headmaster forces us wear it every day. I think it is unfair. There must be some rules about what to wear and what not to wear at school. But it is incredibly boring to see everybody wearing the same dark green colour!

78 (3) The most memorable day in my school was my first day. I got lost and I didn’t know the name of my teacher. During the break I went outside and when the bell rang, I came back into the classroom to see a group of teenagers in it. I asked them to take me to my classroom. We entered each classroom and asked the teachers if 1 was in their class. I was so embarrassed, but happy, when I recognized my classroom and my teacher.

The teacher made an excursion around the school for my class after the lesson.

Do they greet teachers when they meet them? — Yes, they do. It is polite to greet people.

School has been my second home for all these years. I spend much time at school. My classmates are like a family to me. I know a lot about them, their joys and sorrows. Our teachers like our parents are worried about us. They want us to be successful in life. They want to be proud of us. School gives not only knowledge. It makes me understand myself better and better.

My favourite teacher is my History teacher. I think she is an ideal teacher. She is so kind and patient with us. And her lessons are fantastic.

Unfortunately, some students hate school. They think life would be better without it. Maybe, they can’t imagine how difficult would be life without knowledge.

In my opinion a modem school must be open to new technologies. Teachers shouldn’t be just mentors. They should be our friends and advisors in future schools. We may leam through the Internet in future, but we would need good teachers to help us.
